Studied Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at National Institute of Technology, Tokuyama College, and Artificial Intelligence(AI) at Kyushu Institute of Technology, School of Computer Science and Systems Engineering. Admired the power of patents to change the world, and so aspired to become a patent attorney. In 1997, passed Patent Attorney Examination.
My basic policy is: “As a patent attorney handling inventions, I expect to be innovative,” executing tasks through creative collaboration with clients. Highly-specialized in the fields of Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Electronic Engineering, have actively undertaken projects in wide-ranging areas, such as mechanical engineering, advanced materials and biotechnology. Extensive experience not only in Japan(JPO), but also in the U.S.(USPTO), Europe(EPO), China(SIPO), Korea(KIPO), Taiwan(TIPO) and other areas. Abundant experience with trials and lawsuits related to IP disputes.
Providing support for clients’ growth requires in-depth knowledge of entrepreneurship and business management. With that in mind, finished master’s degree in entrepreneurship studies, Graduate School for Creative Cities, Osaka City University. Leveraging the knowledge gained from these studies, actively provide advice on IP strategies from business management perspectives.
In January 2018, opened Sakamoto IP. Also serve as a Technical adviser in intellectual property lawsuits under the jurisdiction of the Intellectual Property High Court, Tokyo District Court and Osaka District Court, and Deputy Director General, Central Research Institute of Intellectual Property, Japan Patent Attorneys Association, and as a Special Advisor to Ritsumeikan University. Completed “Understanding US Intellectual Property Law” Course of Stanford Law School. Certified Class 1 Information Technology Engineer. Member of Japan Patent Attorneys Association, Intellectual Association of Japan, and the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence.
